Brooklyn artist Rachel Sussman has turned cracked sidewalks into something beautiful with her Sidewalk Kintsukuroi project. Traditional Japanese Kintsukouroi uses gold to repair cracks on ceramic items, creating unique works of art. Sussman takes the art onto the streets, where she takes photographs of cracked sidewalks and then hand-paints the images with enamel and metallic dust. The final results are elegant and ethereal, as ethereal as concrete can be.
