So last night the weather went ‘oh no! terrible storm approaching! deaths predicted! This morning I got up and all the schools were closed. Like an idiot, I though ‘oh, well that will make the run up to Belfast easier!’ and off I went. In my defense, at that time the storm was predicted to be hitting about 3. Up in Belfast everywhere was either closed or closing, and I realised that POSSIBLY I should take this a bit more seriously.
I am home now and apparently Zombie Ophelia will blow in here in around an hour. It will probably be grand where I am but in case the power goes off that’s what up! Frankly at the minute it’s looking lovely outside, the wind’s dropped and the sun’s come out!
Besides, I watched the Stephen King adaptation The Storm of the Century. It can’t be worse, or longer, than that.
Between 12:00 Mon 16th and 23:00 Mon 16th
A spell of very windy weather is expected today in association with ex-Ophelia. Longer journey times and cancellations are likely, as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected as well as some bridge closures. There is a good chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage.
